We are filled with joy and gratitude to announce that Ebo growth has welcomed a new ambassador in Norway for our daycenter. The universe truly connects us with remarkable individuals who share our values and mindset. We are incredibly thankful to have connected with Cathrine and her wonderful daughters. We are also very grateful that the family chose to dedicate their Christmas gifts to Ebo Growth this year.
Learn more about Cathrine:
Who are you?
My name is Cathrine, I am 40 years old and I work in the child welfare service – a profession that reminds me every day how important it is that children and young people have security, belonging and the opportunity to grow. I have two daughters aged 16 and 18 and together we share a great interest in volunteering, integration and being a contribution to society. We enjoy meeting people and being part of something bigger than ourselves.
Why did you want to support EBO Growth?
When I met Ingrid at a course, we quickly discovered that we shared a passion for caring, human dignity and volunteerism. When she told me about EBO Growth and I read about their website, I was deeply moved and touched by the fact that the organization runs a day center in the Lamin village of Gambia, focusing on adapted services for children with physical or mental disabilities. It seemed obvious to me that this was a project we could get involved in. I spoke with my daughters, we read up on the project and the stories, and we were deeply moved and decided to give our support – and that we could use our Christmas gift money for something truly meaningful.
What does EBO Growth’s work mean to you?
EBO Growth’s work is a strong symbol of inclusion, equality and hope. When I read “No child should experience obstacles to growth because of their physical or mental abilities” on their website, I know that this is about a lot of what I also believe in – that all children should have the opportunity to be “safe, strong and valued”. The work ebo growth does to empower, educate and care for children in Gambia makes me reflect on how we in Norway can also grow in our understanding and action – and how we can take responsibility as people and society. For me, it is connected to my work in child welfare and my desire to contribute to belonging and integration.
What do you hope to contribute?
Together with my daughters, I hope we can contribute financially and symbolically – by collecting our Christmas gift money and supporting EBO Growth's meeting with children who are often forgotten or marginalized. In addition, I want to spread awareness – so that more people see the opportunity to be part of such a change. I also want my involvement to inspire my daughters to see that giving and showing care is an important part of life, and that together we can be role models for people around us.
Do you have a little call or message for our followers?
Yes — I would encourage you to think a little differently about Christmas and gifts: that the gift is more than something we buy, but an opportunity to look beyond ourselves, to community and human connection. When we together choose to support a project like EBO Growth, we show that caring can be action, and that we can help build bridges between people and between cultures. Even small contributions – collectively and with intention – can have a big impact. Be conscious of the action of doing something that is bigger than yourself. Look outward, look forward.
